Declaration of Brazilian
Capital Abroad
The Brazilian Capital Abroad Declaration (Declaração de Capitais Brasileiros no Exterior – CBE) is a reporting obligation to the Central Bank of Brazil, designed to collect information on assets, rights and investments held overseas. This information contributes to the compilation of statistics and the development of Brazilian economic policy.
Who is required to file?
The declaration is mandatory for individuals and legal entities resident, domiciled or established in Brazil who hold assets overseas, regardless of the country in which they are located, with a total value of:
-
US$1 million or more: annual declaration.
-
US$100 million or more: quarterly declarations, in addition to the annual declaration.
Filing deadlines vary depending on the type of declaration. For the annual declaration, the filing period generally begins in February and ends in mid-April.
How can Mosaico Tax help?
At Mosaico Tax, we provide specialist assistance with the preparation and submission of the Brazilian Capital Abroad Declaration (CBE), taking into account the specific characteristics of assets, rights and investments held across different jurisdictions.
Our team assists with identifying and organising the required information, assessing which assets are subject to reporting and meeting the relevant obligations to the Central Bank of Brazil.
We can also coordinate the preparation of the CBE with the Brazilian Annual Income Tax Return (Declaração de Ajuste Anual do Imposto de Renda), providing an integrated review of financial and tax information and promoting greater consistency between the declarations, while taking into account the specific rules applicable to each reporting obligation.
Our work begins with an online consultation with one of our specialists, who is part of a team of lawyers and accountants with professional qualification in Brazil and the United Kingdom, and the expertise to analyse tax matters involving other jurisdictions.
This initial meeting is dedicated to understanding the composition of the assets held overseas, addressing the main questions and assessing the reporting obligations applicable to each client's circumstances.
Based on this initial assessment, we seek to define the scope of our work and the procedures required to prepare the declaration, adopting a practical, objective and tailored approach.
Benefit from Mosaico Tax's international expertise in meeting your reporting obligations to the Central Bank of Brazil with clarity, precision and confidence.
