With an international academic and professional background, Maria Furtado brings a broad, strategic and highly qualified perspective to the Mosaico Tax team. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) and also completed a dual degree programme with the Università degli Studi di Camerino, Italy, which strengthened her legal education with a comparative perspective between the Brazilian and European legal and tax systems.

Since 2022, she has been part of the Mosaico Tax team, supporting tax matters involving non-residents in Brazil, international mobility, and tax planning with cross-border elements. She is also a Member of the Tax Committee of ABEMMI – the Brazilian Association of Specialists in Migration and International Mobility, an organisation that represents professionals in the Global Mobility sector and promotes technical knowledge, regulatory updates and professional networking, particularly in matters related to international taxation.

Her interest in global taxation led her to attend the Summer ELSA Law School in Cracow, Poland, where she completed a summer course in International Tax Law, further developing her knowledge in areas such as double taxation, international agreements and OECD guidelines. In parallel, she is dedicated to writing articles on Brazilian and international taxation, actively contributing to both academic and practical discussions in the field.

At Mosaico Tax, she is responsible for the initial client engagement, carrying out preliminary case assessments and directing clients to the appropriate specialised consultancy services. She also prepares tax returns and technical opinions, combining technical precision with strategic insight and a strong multicultural perspective.
